Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Syneli handles information when you use the macOS app and website. Syneli is operated by David Kuvaev as an individual. If you have questions, you can contact [email protected].
1. Information Syneli Processes
Syneli is designed to keep everyday dictation private. Local dictation runs on your Mac. When local dictation is used, your audio is processed on your device for transcription.
If you use AI translation or text styling, the text you choose to translate or rewrite may be sent over the internet to provide that feature. Syneli uses this processing to return the requested translation or rewrite, not to sell your content.
2. Account and Subscription Information
Some features may require an account or an active subscription. Syneli may process account identifiers, subscription status, plan information, purchase state, and related technical data to activate Pro features, restore purchases, prevent abuse, and provide support.
Payments made through the Apple App Store are processed by Apple. Direct purchases made outside the App Store may be processed by Paddle or another payment provider. Syneli does not directly collect or store your payment card details.
3. Google Sign-In and Google User Data
If you choose to sign in with Google, Syneli uses Google OAuth only for account authentication. Syneli may access the basic Google account information that Google makes available during sign-in, such as your email address, Google account identifier, display name, and profile image if provided by Google.
Syneli uses this Google user data to create or sign you into your Syneli account, keep you signed in, associate your account with subscription status and usage limits, prevent abuse, and provide account support. Syneli does not use Google user data for advertising, does not sell Google user data, and does not use Google user data to train AI models.
Syneli does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, or other Google content APIs. Syneli does not read, create, edit, or delete files, emails, calendar events, contacts, or other private content from your Google account.
Google sign-in data may be processed by authentication and backend providers, such as Supabase, only as needed to operate account login, sessions, security, subscription access, and support. Syneli stores account identifiers and email addresses as needed to maintain your account. Session tokens may be stored locally on your device so you can stay signed in.
Syneli's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. Audio, Transcriptions, and AI Actions
Local dictation audio is processed on your Mac. Syneli does not need to upload local dictation audio in order to create the transcription.
Translation and styling features may process the dictated text, selected text, or prompt content needed to complete the action. You should avoid sending text that you do not want processed by cloud services when using these AI features.
5. App Diagnostics and Usage Data
Syneli may collect limited diagnostic and usage information to understand whether the app is working, improve reliability, measure feature usage, and debug problems. This may include app version, operating system version, feature events, subscription state, error categories, and performance data.
Diagnostic and usage data is not intended to include your audio recordings or the content of your dictated text.
6. Website Data
The Syneli website may be served by hosting and DNS providers that process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, request time, and pages visited in order to deliver the site, protect it, and keep it reliable.
Syneli may also use privacy-conscious website analytics, including Amplitude, to understand aggregate website usage, page views, referral sources, and interactions such as clicks on download buttons, section views, and basic engagement signals. Website analytics events may include technical information such as page path, referrer domain, language, viewport size, campaign parameters, and approximate session information. These website analytics events are not intended to include your audio recordings, dictated text, selected text, or payment card details.
7. Third-Party Services
Syneli relies on third-party services for hosting, app distribution, purchase processing, authentication, analytics, diagnostics, and AI-powered translation or styling. These providers process information only as needed to support the app features, billing, security, or operations they provide.
Third-party services have their own privacy practices. For App Store purchases, Apple's privacy and payment terms apply. For direct purchases processed by Paddle, Paddle's privacy and payment terms apply.
8. Data Retention
Syneli keeps information only as long as reasonably needed to provide the app, maintain subscriptions, comply with legal obligations, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and improve reliability. Local files and settings stored on your Mac remain under your control.
9. Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information handled by Syneli. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
10. Children's Privacy
Syneli is not directed to children. Syneli does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact [email protected].
11. Your Choices
You can stop using Syneli at any time. You can manage App Store subscriptions through your Apple account. For direct subscriptions, use the billing link in your receipt or contact support. You can also contact [email protected] with privacy questions or requests.
You can stop using Google Sign-In with Syneli by signing out of Syneli, deleting your Syneli account if that option is available, contacting support, or removing Syneli's access from your Google account permissions.
12. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
